IndiGo, Air India Cancel Flights To 7 Border Cities Amid India-Pakistan Tensions Despite Ceasefire
IndiGo and Air India have announced the cancellation of their flights to and from Srinagar, Jammu, Amritsar, Chandigarh, and several other border cities for Tuesday.
Air India confirmed it had suspended two-way flight operations to and from Jammu, Leh, Jodhpur, Amritsar, Bhuj, Jamnagar, Chandigarh, and Rajkot. Similarly, IndiGo cancelled flights operating to and from Jammu, Amritsar, Chandigarh, Leh, Srinagar, and Rajkot.

"In view of the latest developments and keeping your safety in mind, flights to and from Jammu, Leh, Jodhpur, Amritsar, Bhuj, Jamnagar, Chandigarh and Rajkot are cancelled for Tuesday, 13th May. We are monitoring the situation and will keep you updated," Air India posted on X.
IndiGo also stated that the decision had been made in light of the "latest developments and with your safety as our utmost priority".
"We understand how this may disrupt your travel plans, and regret the inconvenience caused. Our teams are actively monitoring the situation and will promptly keep you informed of further updates," the airline added.
These airports were among those that had reopened to civilian air traffic on Monday after being temporarily closed due to rising tensions between India and Pakistan.
The Airports Authority of India (AAI) announced on Monday that civilian flights would resume at 32 airports that had been shut last week, with operations permitted until 15th May.
Other airports cleared for the resumption of civilian flights included Adhampur, Ambala, Awantipur, Bathinda, Bikaner, Halwara, Hindon, Jaisalmer, Jamnagar, Kandla, Kangra (Gaggal), Keshod, Kishangarh, Kullu Manali (Bhuntar), Ludhiana, Mundra, Naliya, Pathankot, Patiala, Porbandar, Sarsawa, Shimla, Thoise, and Uttarlai.
This development followed the ceasefire agreement reached between India and Pakistan on Saturday.
Tensions between the two nations had escalated after a deadly terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir on April 22, which claimed 26 lives.
India, after uncovering cross-border links to the attack, launched Operation Sindoor on 7th May, targeting nine terror camps located in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). Multiple facilities operated by groups such as Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), and Hizbul Mujahideen were destroyed, with over 100 terrorists reportedly killed.
Following India's overnight military strikes, Pakistan retaliated by launching drones and missiles at India's western regions-attacks which were successfully intercepted.
India then conducted precision strikes on military targets deep within Pakistani territory, hitting radar stations, command and control centres, and ammunition depots in areas including Rafiqui, Chaklala, Rahim Yar Khan, Sukkur, and Sialkot.
On Saturday, both countries agreed to a ceasefire, putting an immediate stop to all military actions.
