Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren also took time out on X platform expressing grief over this great loss: "Very sad news was received about the demise of religious leader Cardinal Telesphore P Toppo." Cardinal Toppo's dedication to service was evident throughout his life. In June 2018, he resigned under the Canon law as Bishop, a decision announced by Pope Francis in Rome. The Canon Law stipulates that an Archbishop can serve until he reaches the age limit set by the church.
