India's Fastest Train Vande Bharat Gets 1.5 Hours Delay

The CSMT-Madgaon Vande Bharat Express train experienced a delay on its journey to Goa due to a technical issue at Diva station in Thane district, Maharashtra. This incident led to a 90-minute delay as the train deviated from its usual route, according to officials.

Instead of following the regular path towards Panvel station on the Diva-Panvel railway line, which is commonly used by trains heading towards Konkan, the express train was rerouted to the Kalyan route around 6:10 am. This diversion also impacted Mumbai's local train services on the Central Railway line.

Vande Bharat Train Faces Technical Glitch

Central Railway chief PRO Swapnil Nila explained that the deviation was due to a failure in the signaling and telecommunications system at point number 103. This point is located between the down fast line and the 5th line at Diva junction, where trains typically proceed towards Panvel station on their regular route.

After being diverted from its planned course, the train moved to Kalyan station and then reversed back to Diva junction. From there, it continued its journey towards Madgaon on the Diva-Panvel route. The train was held at Diva junction for about 35 minutes, from 6:10 AM to 6:45 AM, before proceeding towards Kalyan.

Details of Vande Bharat Train Movement

Nila further detailed that the train reached platform number six at Kalyan station around 7:04 AM via the 5th line. It was then reversed back to Diva station via the 6th line at 7:13 am. Such incidents are rare on Mumbai's suburban automatic signaling system, according to railway officials.

The CSMT-Madgaon Vande Bharat Express is a premium service introduced in June 2023. It departs from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) in Mumbai at 5:25 am and arrives in Madgaon, Goa, by 1:10 pm on the same day.

This unexpected delay highlights challenges faced by railway systems despite technological advancements.
