Indian Army Expands Operational Footprint in Jammu Region to Enhance Security and Peace

The Indian Army has expanded its presence in the Jammu region, notably occupying the upper reaches of the Pir Panjal range. This move is part of efforts to enhance military-civilian coordination for stability. The army remains committed to fostering peace, security, and development in the area, according to a senior officer.

Indian Army Increases Presence in Jammu Region

Lieutenant General Navin Sachdeva, General Officer Commanding (GoC) of the White Knight Corps, highlighted the army's increased operational capabilities. "We have strengthened our patrols and posts, even in the highest mountains and ridges. This progress has been made possible thanks to your unwavering support," he stated. During his visit to Rajouri, Lt Gen Sachdeva participated in a Kaumi Ekta meet aimed at recognising local communities' and veterans' roles in maintaining peace.

Enhanced Security Measures

New posts have been established in higher areas, and night-time movements of security forces have been intensified to boost security. Helicopters, UAVs, and various sensors are being utilised to maintain peace. Lt Gen Sachdeva praised the collaboration between civilians and security forces, especially in sensitive border districts like Rajouri and Poonch.

The officer acknowledged the contributions of veterans and local leaders to the improved security situation. He commended the Ace of Spades Division for building trust through welfare programmes and community engagement. The Corps Commander also attended the Mendhar Cricket Premier League felicitation ceremony, emphasising such events' role in promoting community harmony.

Community Engagement Initiatives

The army's proactive outreach to locals aims to foster greater trust and cooperation between military and civilian communities. Lt Gen Sachdeva met with army veterans, expressing gratitude for their ongoing contributions to regional stability and social harmony. He noted their crucial role in bridging gaps between military and civilian communities.

Lt Gen Sachdeva stated that by increasing its operational footprint and enhancing synergy with local law enforcement agencies and administration, the army continues working collectively for a secure environment. "I extend a heartfelt welcome to all of you. Your presence here reflects our collective respect for the sacrifices, courage, and unity of our brave soldiers," he said.

Historical Significance of Rajouri

The Corps Commander remarked on Rajouri's history filled with valour and sacrifice tales. "This land stands as a testament to how the army and people have faced every challenge together," he said. He paid homage to unsung heroes who have supported the Indian Army since 1947 in maintaining peace.

The bond between the Indian Army and Rajouri's people has reached new heights through initiatives under Sadbhavana goodwill. These include medical camps, road construction projects, and youth recruitment rallies. "Our cooperation is not limited to security but has become a symbol of social development," he added.

Commitment to Peace

Addressing ongoing challenges like terrorism remnants fuelled by external forces, Lt Gen Sachdeva expressed confidence in collective efforts ensuring peace. "I assure you on behalf of the Indian Army that we stand firmly with Rajouri's people," he said. The army remains dedicated to promoting peace, security, and development.

Seeking support from all stakeholders, he stated that contributions from active servicemen or veterans are invaluable for nation-building. The Indian Army is committed not only to service but also to veterans' welfare.
