Air India, Vistara, IndiGo Set to Resume Flights to Dhaka Amid Unrest
Air India will run its scheduled flights from Delhi to Dhaka on Wednesday. Sources indicate a special flight may also be arranged to bring back people from the Bangladesh capital. Vistara and IndiGo will also operate their scheduled flights to Dhaka on Wednesday amid ongoing protests.

On Tuesday, Air India operated its evening flight to Dhaka but cancelled the morning one. The airline plans to operate its two daily flights from Delhi to Dhaka on Wednesday. Additionally, a special flight might be arranged to bring back people from Dhaka.
Flight Operations Amid Protests
Vistara and IndiGo will resume their scheduled services to Dhaka on Wednesday. Vistara typically operates daily flights from Mumbai and three weekly services from Delhi to Dhaka. Both airlines had cancelled their Tuesday flights due to the volatile situation in Bangladesh.
IndiGo usually runs one daily flight from Delhi, Mumbai, and Chennai to Dhaka. It also operates two daily services from Kolkata to the Bangladesh capital. The resumption of these flights comes as the situation in Dhaka remains tense.
Air India's Special Waiver
Air India announced it would operate its evening flights AI237/238 on the Delhi-Dhaka-Delhi route on Tuesday evening. The airline also offered a one-time waiver on rescheduling for passengers with confirmed bookings on any of its flights to and from Dhaka between August 4 and 7.
This waiver applies to tickets booked on or before August 5. The decision aims to accommodate passengers affected by the current situation in Bangladesh.
Political Unrest in Bangladesh
Bangladesh has seen significant developments recently. Sheikh Hasina, who ruled for 15 years, resigned as prime minister on Monday following massive protests. Initially sparked by opposition to a job quota scheme, the protests evolved into a mass movement demanding her removal from power.
The unrest has led airlines like Air India, Vistara, and IndiGo to adjust their flight schedules. These adjustments aim to ensure passenger safety amid the ongoing protests in Dhaka.
The situation remains fluid, with airlines closely monitoring developments in Bangladesh. Passengers are advised to stay updated on flight schedules and any potential changes due to the unrest.
The resumption of scheduled flights by Air India, Vistara, and IndiGo reflects efforts to maintain connectivity while ensuring passenger safety during this period of political instability in Bangladesh.
