Indian Air Force To Do Large-Scale Exercise Along Indo-Pak Border; NOTAM Issued

India has heightened its military posture by scheduling a significant air exercise along the Indo-Pakistan border's southern stretch on May 7 and May 8. This action emphasizes the nation's commitment to maintaining operational readiness in light of escalating regional tensions.

The Indian Air Force (IAF) will execute a series of maneuvers across the International Border in Rajasthan as part of its routine preparedness drills. The exercise, set to kick off at 3:30 PM on May 7 and wrap up by 9:30 PM on May 8, necessitates airspace restrictions over the designated areas. This will accommodate various operations, including deploying fighter jets and surveillance aircraft, all aimed at bolstering the IAF's combat capabilities.

In response to a recent surge in hostilities, evidenced by a cross-border terror attack, this military drill underscores India's vigilance and readiness amid growing regional concerns. Although the Indian Ministry of Defence hasn't directly associated the exercise with the current geopolitical landscape, its timing and location send a clear message of India's military alertness. Adding to this heightened state of readiness, India announced a temporary ban on all Pakistan-registered and military aircraft from its airspace. This ban, effective from April 30 to May 23, 2025, is a countermeasure to Pakistan's airspace closure to Indian flights following the Pahalgam terror incident. This reciprocal action marks an escalation in the two nations' strained relations.

Furthermore, the situation along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir remains fraught with tension, with India retaliating strongly to ceasefire violations by Pakistani forces. Reports have surfaced of Pakistani troops withdrawing from several forward posts, indicating a significant morale dip. The Indian Army has been robust in its response to unprovoked firing by Pakistan, particularly in sectors like Naushera, Sunderbani, and Baramulla, engaging with "precision and force."

Amid these developments, Pakistan has instituted a temporary No-Fly Zone over Islamabad and Lahore until May 2.
