Art, Culture Pivotal in India's 'Viksit Bharat' Development Goals
Union Culture Secretary Govind Mohan emphasized the pivotal role of art and culture in India's ambition to become a developed nation, termed as 'Viksit Bharat', during his speech at the opening ceremony of the Samagam Art Fest 2024. The event, held at the India Habitat Centre, marks a significant celebration of creativity and cultural diversity, set to span over four days until May 27. Mohan highlighted the government's vision under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, aiming for India's development by 2047, and pointed out the crucial contribution of art and culture in this journey.

The festival not only showcases an array of art exhibitions, film screenings, and workshops but also focuses on the integration of start-ups in the art and culture sector. This initiative reflects a broader vision of fostering innovation within traditional and contemporary artistic practices. Karuna Jain, co-curator of the festival, shared insights into the festival's core objective of inclusivity and celebration of diverse art forms. With 42 emerging and established artists from across India participating, the exhibition presents a wide range of artistic expressions and techniques.
Jain's statement underscores the festival's intent to "bridge gaps and create a harmonious dialogue between different art forms and the audience," highlighting the inclusive nature of this cultural gathering. The Samagam Art Fest 2024 stands as a testament to the vibrant artistic landscape of India, aiming to engage various stakeholders from artists to audiences in a meaningful exchange.
The government's vision for Viksit Bharat encompasses various sectors, with art and culture being identified as key components in enriching society and fostering a sense of national pride. Through events like the Samagam Art Fest 2024, there is a clear effort to elevate the discourse around art and its integral role in societal development. This aligns with broader goals of nurturing creativity and innovation as India strides towards its developmental goals.
In conclusion, the Samagam Art Fest 2024 not only serves as a platform for showcasing artistic talent but also as a reflection of the government's commitment to integrating art and culture into its developmental blueprint for India. As such events gain prominence, they contribute significantly to the cultural fabric of the nation, encouraging dialogue, understanding, and appreciation across diverse artistic domains.
