India Strikes JeM HQ In Bahawalpur Hardest In Operation Sindoor: Sources

In retaliation for the terror attack in Pahalgam, India launched Operation Sindoor, which dealt the worst blow to the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) headquarters in Bahawalpur, Pakistan. Targeting nine terror installations in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), the Indian military launched the operation early on May 7. The central hub of JeM operations, Bahawalpur, was confirmed by sources to have suffered the most damage.

All ensuing retaliatory strikes against Pakistani provocations were part of Operation Sindoor, which was initiated as a comprehensive reaction to the Pahalgam incident. The major base of JeM, the Jamia Masjid Subhan Allah in Bahawalpur, was one of the principal objectives. Ten members of his family and four close colleagues were murdered in the hit, according to comments made by JeM commander Maulana Masood Azhar. Azhar's older sister and her spouse, a nephew and his spouse, a niece, and five of his extended family members were among those slain.

Despite the operation's ferocity, India and Pakistan jointly announced on Saturday that they will immediately stop all military operations, whether by air, sea, or land.

For many years, Bahawalpur has been the operational centre of JeM, especially following Azhar's 1999 release, which was obtained in return for the hostages taken from Indian Airlines flight IC-814. The United Nations later named Azhar a "global terrorist" in May 2019 after China removed its ten-year ban on the Indian-initiated motion.

Speaking to the public on Saturday, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh commended the Indian military for carrying out Operation Sindoor with "unimaginable" accuracy. He attested that a considerable number of terrorists had been eliminated as a result of the destruction of nine important terrorist infrastructures throughout Pakistan and PoK. Singh credited India's military's enhanced capabilities and professional training for the operation's successful execution with little collateral damage.

He added that, in contrast to Pakistan's frequent attacks on Indian civilian and religious targets, Indian forces exclusively targeted terrorist installations and shunned civilian areas. Singh pointed out that the world community saw how India invaded Pakistan and carried out a series of counterattacks after the Pahalgam attack.
