India Issues Travel Advisory For Citizens Against Iran And Israel Amid Middle East Tensions

A travel advisory was issued by the Ministry of External Affairs, urging all Indian citizens to refrain from travelling to Iran or Israel until further notice due to escalating tensions in the region, on Friday.

The advisory emphasized that Indian nationals currently residing in Iran or Israel should contact the nearest Indian Embassies and register themselves with the authorities.

They were also advised to exercise extreme caution and limit their movements to essential activities only. The advisory stated, "In view of the prevailing situation in the region, all Indians are advised not to travel to Iran or Israel till further notice."

It further added, "All those who are currently residing in Iran or Israel are requested to get in touch with Indian Embassies there and register themselves. They are also requested to observe utmost precautions about their safety and restrict their movements to the minimum."

The issuance of this advisory follows threats of reprisals by Iran over an Israeli strike on the Iranian consulate in Syria, leading to concerns of increased violence in the Middle East. Tehran's mission to the United Nations indicated that the situation might have been avoided if the U.N. Security Council had condemned the strike and brought the perpetrators to justice.

Earlier, the French foreign ministry advised against travelling to Iran, Lebanon, Israel, and the Palestinian territories, announcing the return of relatives of Iran-based diplomats to France and prohibiting French civil servants from conducting missions in these areas.

Antony Blinken, a top American diplomat, engaged with counterparts from Turkey, China, and Saudi Arabia to emphasize that escalation is not in anyone's interest and to urge countries to encourage Iran not to escalate, as per statements from the U.S. State Department.
