India Becomes a Global Education Hub Thanks to Modi Government's National Education Policy

Senior BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi recently highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi's impact on India's education system through the National Education Policy (NEP). Speaking at the Education Excellence Award 2024: Kuwait Edition, Naqvi described NEP as a roadmap to transform India into a knowledge superpower. He emphasised that leadership often emerges from struggles, citing figures like Mahatma Gandhi and Nelson Mandela as examples.

Indias Rise as an Education Hub Under Modi

Naqvi noted that India's democratic strength stems from its ancient Gurukul teachings, not modern technology or artificial intelligence. He stressed the need for stable governance and effective leadership amid global challenges. According to Naqvi, such leadership acts as a troubleshooter and promotes socio-economic, educational, and cultural empowerment.

India's Educational Transformation

Highlighting the Modi government's initiatives in education, Naqvi mentioned that NEP 2020 is built on five pillars: access, equity, quality, affordability, and accountability. He stated that these reforms have reshaped India's educational landscape. The policy aims to position India as a global knowledge leader by focusing on these core principles.

Naqvi shared that India's path to global leadership is closely tied to its education system's strength. He informed attendees that Rs 1.48 lakh crore has been allocated for education, employment, and skilling in the current budget. This significant investment underscores the government's commitment to enhancing educational opportunities.

Increased Enrolment and Literacy Initiatives

The enrolment of minority students in schools rose from 4.01 crore in 2015-16 to 4.55 crore in 2020-21. In higher education, minority student enrolment increased from 22.97 lakh in 2015-16 to 29.88 lakh in 2019-20. These figures highlight the positive impact of government policies on minority education.

The New India Literacy Programme (NILP) aims to promote literacy among those aged 15 years and above. The initiative targets covering five crore non-literates, including minorities, by 2026-27. Such efforts are crucial for improving literacy rates across diverse communities in India.

Recognition of Educational Achievements

Naqvi asserted that these measures have established India as a global education hub. The event was attended by notable figures such as Sanjay K Muluka, Deputy Chief of Mission at the Indian Embassy in Kuwait; Dr Ram Shankar, Director of CBSE Regional Office and Centre of Excellence at UAE; and Arun Choudhary from Al Rayan Holding Company.

Naqvi's remarks underscore the importance of educational reforms in shaping India's future. By investing in education and promoting inclusivity, India is poised to become a leading force in global knowledge and innovation.
