All three Indian participants secured spots within the top eight during the qualification round. However, only Sandhu and Kynan will compete in the individual final later today.

In the women's trap team event, consisting of Rajeshwari Kumari, Manisha Keer, and Preeti Rajak, India secured the silver medal with a total of 337 points. China clinched gold with a world-record-breaking 356 points, placing India in second. Kazakhstan followed with a bronze, scoring 335 points. Notably, Manisha, with a score of 114 points, progressed to the individual final.

Aditi Ashok Bags Silver In Women's Golf

Aditi Ashok experienced a sharp decline in her performance on the last day, scoring a disappointing five-over 77. This resulted in her securing a silver medal, marking India's inaugural women's golf medal at the Asian Games held on Sunday. Despite starting the final day with a strong seven-stroke lead, Aditi faced challenges, tallying four bogeys and a double bogey with only a single birdie. Consequently, she dropped to the second position.

She concluded her campaign with a total score of 17-under 271 over the four-day event. Meanwhile, Thailand's Arpichaya Yubol showcased remarkable composure, achieving her best card of the week with a 64, securing the prestigious gold medal. Additionally, Korea's Hyunjo Yoo also improved her performance, carding a 65 to earn the bronze medal.

India's other two players, Pranavi Urs and Avani Prashanth, too struggled to bring home cards of 75 and 76 as the Indian women's team ended its campaign at the fourth place. While the gold slipped out of her hands, it was still a creditable performance from the two-time Olympian from Bangalore, who had missed a medal by a whisker at the Tokyo Games after finishing fourth.

It was India's fourth individual medal in golf with Lakshman Singh and Shiv Kapur winning the gold in the 1982 and 2002 editions and Rajiv Mohta claiming a silver in New Delhi. An Indian squad comprising Lakshman, Rajiv, Rishi Narain and Amit Luthra had won the team gold in 1982, while the country also won two team silver medals in 2006 and 2010 editions at Doha and Guangzhou, PTI reported.
