In MP, Bajrang Dal Workers Attack 2 Men on Eid for Carrying Beef

Two Muslim men were attacked by Bajrang Dal workers for allegedly carrying beef during the Eid-ul-Adha celebrations in Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh. The incident occurred when the men, riding a motorcycle, were transporting meat from Imlipura to Sihada village.

Bajrang Dal workers intercepted them near the Polytechnic College in Khandwa, accusing them of carrying beef. Despite the men's denial and clarification that they were carrying mutton, the Bajrang Dal workers assaulted them and tore their clothes.

Police arrived at the scene, rescued the victims, and took them to the police station, while the Bajrang Dal workers continued their protest.

City Qazi, Syed Nisar, said that the slaughterhouses in Khandwa are closely monitored by the administration, making it unlikely to obtain beef. He stated that certain organizations are conspiring to disrupt the city's harmony by levying false allegations.

Bajrang Dal District Coordinator, Aditya Mehta, confirmed that their workers had apprehended the individuals carrying what they believed to be beef and brought them to Rameshwar Chowki.

Superintendent of Police, Satyendra Shukla, informed that members of the Muslim community met with the police, presenting a video as evidence. The video has been handed over to the Circle Superintendent of Police (CSP) and the station in-charge for further investigation and appropriate action based on the facts that emerge.

Two cases have been registered in relation to this incident. One case has been filed against the two Muslim men as the meat they were carrying lacked proper documentation, raising suspicions that it may be banned. Veterinary doctors are currently examining the meat samples.

In 2019, the Madhya Pradesh assembly passed an amendment to the Anti-Cow Slaughter Act, imposing a jail term of six months to three years and a fine of Rs 25,000-50,000 for individuals convicted of engaging in violence in the name of cow protection. The state cabinet approved this amendment to the existing 2004 act, which required special permission from a competent authority for transporting cattle through Madhya Pradesh. The amendment now allows for the transportation of cattle from Madhya Pradesh to other states with the necessary permission from a competent authority, aiming to address issues and cases of cow vigilantism.
