Bengaluru, June 16: As anti-incumbency soaring for the Siddaramaiah led Congress government, a prominent woman face in the BJP holding to the strong view of BJP clutching onto the state mantle in the upcoming assembly elections in 2018.

Former Minister, MP (Member of Parliament) from Udupi-Chikmagalur, Shobha Karandlaje, a staunch loyalist of state BJP President B S Yeddyurappa (BSY) keeping this view in her mind has already begun working on a mission to become Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka.

The sources in the BJP tell OneIndia that more than half of the general secretaries appointed in the BJP district units recently this month owe allegiance to Former Chief Minister BSY in turn to Karandlaje.

A thorough-cum-meticulous deliberation has gone into these appointments as to ensure 'considerably less' internal bickering in the party over the BSY's CM candidature and his political decisions following the elections. Karandlaje, a close associate of BSY, according to sources sought to assume Deputy Chief Minister post, if the party comes to power.

Karandlaje has shown extreme interest in picking up general secretaries for BJP districts and various wings. It is after BSY consulting Karandlaje, appointments were finalised. More than half of the appointees have a say 'YES' to all the decisions both BSY and Karandlaje takes. However, a few appointments were made, not the loyalists but from the other faction within the party to appease foe faction of BSY, sources divulged.

The reemergence of BSY as the state BJP President has thrown a huge set back for his enemy faction led by Union Minister for Chemical and Fertilisers Ananth Kumar and National Joint General Secretary (organisation) BJP, B L Santosh. This has also given a boost to Karandlaje to come out even stronger as woman face in the BJP.

If all goes well for Karandlaje, sources say that she will certainly become the deputy chief minister of Karnataka. It all depends on Yeddyurappa, if BSY decides to relieve from CM post after serving first term for 2 and a half years, he may give state's lucrative helm to Karandlaje.

No wonder, Karandlaje is not too far, with her confidence and political skills, from becoming Karnataka version of Tamil Nadu CM J Jayalalithaa.
