IMD issues heavy rain alert in Delhi-NCR; warns strong winds in Himachal Pradesh

Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday predicted Thunderstorm with rain to occur over some places of Delhi and adjoining regions including Faridabad, Ballabhgarh, Khurja, Greater Noida and Bulandshahr during next two hours.

The weather department has also predicted light rain/ thunder showers likely at isolated places during next 48-72 hours in Punjab. Rain/ thunder shower activity is likely to increase in intensity and spread between 7-8 May. Thunderstorm accompanied with Squall is also likely at isolated places during this period.

''Thunderstorm with rain to occur over and adjoining areas of Meerut, Hapur, Muzaffarnagar and Bijnor during next two hours,'' India Meteorological Department further said.

Speaking to ANI, Manmohan Singh, Director, IMD said,'' Rainfall is expected in many regions of the state between 6 to 8 May. Thunderstorm and strong wind warning for 7 & 8 May has been issued for Shimla, Solan, Hamirpur, Mandi, Kangra and Una districts.''

Parts of northern India have been reeling under the effect of sudden and heavy bursts of rain combined with very windy conditions.
