IMD Forecast: Red Alert For THIS State, Heavy Rainfall Warning In Southern India
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has reported that Cyclone Fengal has weakened into a deep depression. This change is expected to gradually reduce the intensity of rainfall and winds. However, significant rainfall is still anticipated in peninsular India over the next few days. The IMD has issued yellow, orange, and red alerts for various regions based on the expected weather conditions.
Kerala and Mahe are under a red alert according to the IMD's predictions. These areas are likely to experience light to moderate rainfall at most locations, with heavy to very heavy rain in some places and extremely heavy downpours in isolated spots. In Kerala, districts such as Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kottayam, Pathanamthitta, and Kannur may face extremely heavy rainfall.

Weather Alerts Across Regions
An orange alert has been issued for Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, and South Interior Karnataka. These regions are expected to receive light to moderate rain across many areas. Additionally, heavy to very heavy rainfall is anticipated at isolated locations within these regions.
A yellow alert is in place for Rayalseema and Coastal Karnataka. The IMD forecasts light to moderate rain with potential heavy showers at isolated spots on Monday. Residents in these areas should remain cautious and prepared for changing weather conditions.
Impact of Cyclone Fengal
Puducherry experienced its highest-ever recorded rainfall of 49 cm in 30 years due to Cyclone Fengal on Monday morning. This unprecedented deluge brought normal life to a standstill in the union territory. Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu's Villupuram district recorded a significant 51 cm of rainfall at Mylam AWS.
As the cyclone weakens further into a deep depression, the focus remains on monitoring rainfall patterns across affected regions. Authorities continue to issue alerts and updates as necessary to ensure public safety and preparedness.
