IMD confirms depression in Bay of Bengal, likely to turn into a cyclone
The inference marked on December 6, 2.30 PM indicates that the system is likely to move west and northwest in the next 72 hours.
The Indian Meteorological Department has confirmed a depression developing in the Bay of Bengal about 1,320 kms southeast of Vishakapatnam. The IMD added that the depression is likely to intensify in the next 24 hours and further into a cyclonic storm in the next 48 hours.
The inference marked on December 6, 2.30 PM indicates that the system is likely to move west and northwest in the next 72 hours.

Heavy rainfall warning has been issued for Andaman and Nicobar islands over the next 24 hours. Fishermen have been advised against venturing out into the sea.
The fresh water disturbance created by the system is likely to affect Western Himalayan region starting December 9, the report added.
