Illegal Bangladeshi Migrant Arrested in Dehradun for Using Fake Identities and Documents

A Bangladeshi woman was arrested in Dehradun for living under fake identities and possessing counterfeit documents after illegally entering India. She confessed to crossing the border during the COVID pandemic and marrying an Indian citizen.

A woman from Bangladesh, suspected of living illegally in India, was detained by police in the Patel Nagar area on Thursday. Dehradun's Senior Superintendent of Police, Ajay Singh, stated that Subeda Begum, aged 40, entered West Bengal unlawfully during the COVID pandemic and married an Indian citizen.

Police received a tip-off about Begum's whereabouts in Lok Sanskriti Colony, leading to her detention. During interrogation, she admitted to being a Bangladeshi national and using false identities such as Subeda Bibi, Moni, and Priya Roy. Authorities found fake birth certificates and voter ID cards under these names.

Illegal Documentation and Arrest

Begum possessed fraudulent Indian documents including an Aadhaar card and PAN card. She was charged under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, Passport Act, and Foreigners Act. Her confession revealed she crossed the border four years ago to marry Kauser Shah from West Bengal.

Two years back, Begum moved to Dehradun with her husband. She acquired fake Indian documents from Roorkee in Haridwar district and Dehradun. Shah is currently employed in Dubai. The police have been actively addressing illegal residency issues in the region.

Previous Arrests of Bangladeshi Nationals

Earlier incidents saw 19 Bangladeshi nationals apprehended in Dehradun district. Among them, nine were arrested for residing illegally with counterfeit documents. The remaining 10 individuals were deported back to Bangladesh.

The ongoing efforts by law enforcement highlight the challenges of managing illegal immigration and document forgery. The authorities continue to monitor and take action against such activities to maintain legal order in the region.
