ICMR's Study On Covid Jabs-Heart Attack Link To Be Out Soon: Report

A study by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) investigating a potential link between Covid-19 vaccines and an increase in cardiac arrest-related deaths is expected to be released within the next two weeks, according to a report by Moneycontrol.

The Director-General of ICMR, Rajiv Bahl, said that the researchers have made preliminary findings and are awaiting peer review before publicly sharing their assessment. The research paper has been accepted by the Indian Journal of Medical Research (IJMR), and an independent evaluation of the paper is currently underway.

ICMRs Study On Covid Jabs-Heart Attack Link To Be Out Soon: Report

The study focused on four different investigations, as per the report. The first study focuses on understanding the causes of sudden deaths among young individuals. The second study examines sudden cardiac arrest deaths from various perspectives, including vaccination, long-term Covid effects, and the severity of the patients' condition. Data was collected over a year from Covid-infected patients admitted to 40 hospitals. The third study identifies a significant number of individuals who died suddenly from heart attacks or brain strokes. The fourth study analyzes individuals who experienced a heart attack (myocardial infarction) but did not succumb to it.

The ICMR's study was initially announced in March by the Union Health Minister, Mansukh Mandaviya, during News 18's Rising India Summit. He acknowledged the rise in heart attack-related deaths following Covid-19 and mentioned that researchers at AIIMS Delhi are conducting a separate review of data related to heart attack fatalities.
