Hyderabad: Flipkart duped of Rs 20 lakh, techie faces arrest

Hyderabad, Oct 1: A young engineer has been booked under a cheating case. He has been accused of duping Flipkart of Rs 20 lakh. The incident took place in Hyderabad.

The accused, who might be arrested soon over the cheating case, has been identified as 25-year-old Veera Swamy. Flipkart officials accused Swamy of taking disadvantage of item return policy of the company.

It has been reported that Swamy allegedly used to order electronic items and later returned those items complaining that those products were not working properly.

The accused used to change his name and address before placing orders with Flipkart. After such several incidents, company officials decided to check the items and discovered that many crucial internal parts of the items were missing.

Finally, they trapped Swamy and filed a cheating case against him. Swamy's real face was revealed when he returned three computers which he had bought recently. The company officials found that many expensive chips and hardware items were missing in the computers which were returned by Swamy.

Speaking about the accused, a police official was quoted as saying, "Similarly he had stolen hardware parts of cameras and other electronic items after ordering them on Flipkart."

"He would return the equipment one or two days after delivery. Sometimes, he replaced the hardware with duplicate parts. This had been going on for the last two years," the official added.
