Hyderabad: 70-yr-old Omani national booked for marrying minor girl

Hyderabad, Apr 6: An Omani national was arrested on the charge of marrying a minor girl here, police said today.

The Oman national-- Senaidi Khamis Mohammed Khamis-- aged over 70 years, was drawn into contract marriage with a 17 year-old minor girl in old city area, police said.

Immediately after the marriage recitals, the Omani national forced the victim to consummate the marriage when she managed to alert the police, who rescued her.

The police have booked him under relevant sections of the Nirbhaya Act and Prohibition of Child Marriage Act and arrested the Omani and others involved in the crime.
