The case is being built up in a strong manner and we wanted solid evidence on hand before we could call in Geelani for questioning, an NIA officer said.
The National Investigation Agency probing the Hurriyat terror funding case says that maximum proof has been found against Hurriyat hawk, Syed Ali Shah Geelani. The NIA which questioned Geelani's two sons in connection with the case will summon the hawk himself next for questioning.

During the questioning of Geelani's sons. Naeem and Naseem, the NIA sought details about the financial transactions. Several other Hurriyat leaders who have been questioned in connection with this case have given details about the funding. All evidence points towards a major role played allegedly by Geelani, the investigations have found.
The case is being built up in a strong manner and we wanted solid evidence on hand before we could call in Geelani for questioning, an NIA officer said. NIA officials who have been questioning seven other separatists were told in detail about the funding. The funding runs into several crores of rupees and it has been found that a large part of it was also diverted for the pleasures of the separatists.
A major chunk of the money was used to pay terrorists and the stone pelters who kept the Valley on the boil since July 2016. However the situation has come under control to a larger extent after the Army launched its Operation Clean Up. The Army has so far killed 131 terrorists and says that there are around 60 of them to go. The Army says that it will rid Kashmir of the menace by the turn of the winter.
