Clean India: After Hrithik Roshan's Bang Bang challenge, now Modi invites Salman Khan, others

New Delhi, Oct 2: Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan took a unique step of promoting his upcoming movie Bang Bang. He has been challenging Bollywood celebrities to take up a few daring acts and show it on social networking site. Taking a similar step, Prime Minister Narendra Modi too began promoting his highly ambitious campaign -- Swachh Bharat or Clean India.

Modi on Thursday, Oct 2 launched Swachh Bharat scheme. While launching the campaign in the country, Modi informed that he has invited many celebrities across the country to participate in the campaign. Modi also asked the celebrities to post their pictures with broom on social media.

Celebrities, who received the invitation from Modi, are -- Baba Ramdev, Salman Khan, Shashi Tharoor, Priyanka Chopra, Bharat Ratna Sachin Tendulkar, Kamal Hassan, Anil Ambani, the entire cast of Tarak Mehta ka Ooltah Chashmah and also Goa Governor Mridula Sinha.

Modi reached Valmiki Basti, a place in the national capital, after paying his tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat. Later he himself took broom and joined the little children who reached the venue early in the morning.

Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, a mission which aims at creating a 'Clean India' in the next five years, has officially been launched on Gandhi Jayanti on Oct 2, 2014 which marks the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

Modi selected the Valmiki Basti area as a mark of respect to Mahatma Gandhi, who stayed there to dedicate public toilets to the residents of the locality.
