How these brave sons of India foiled a breach into the Baramulla security camp
The attack on the security camp in Baramulla could have been worse had it not been for the valour of these two brave soldiers and very concrete intelligence inputs. The two Border Security Force constables, Nitin Kumar and Varun who were guarding Bunker Number 11 picked up movements by the terrorists.
Both the brave soldiers came in the line of fire from the terrorists who also hurled a grenade into the bunker. When Kumar came out, terrorists hurled another grenade which hit him. This hit was a fatal one.

The terrorists, however, continued to fire. Other soldiers, Varun then engaged the terrorists. The army then came in and engaged in a gun fight with the terrorists for about an hour. Although the terrorists managed to escape, the valour of these brave soldiers ensured that the camp was not breached.
Intent to breach
The investigations that have been conducted post these attack suggest that the intention of these terrorists was not just a hit and run mission. They had come with the specific intention of replicating an Uri, in which 19 soldiers lost their lives.
During the course of investigations, wire cutters and GPS sets were found. The wire cutters clearly suggest that they were trying to enter into the camp and kill the soldiers. Officials say that there was a high alert and intelligence bureau officials had warned about possible attacks.
There is a similar alert issued in respect of every security camp in Jammu and Kashmir. The alert warns of suicide strikes on the army camps.
Investigations also reveal that these terrorists were already in the Valley. These terrorists are not part of a fresh wave of infiltrations. Due to heightened alert and heavy security along the border, there have been no fresh infiltrations that have been reported.
