'How can Home Minister talk about toppling a govt?' Didi slams Shah

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has come down heavily on Union Home Minister Amit Shah over his recent remarks that her government would collapse if BJP gets 35 Lok Sabha seats in the state.

"On Friday, Amit Shah addressed a rally. That is fine. But how can the Union home minister of the country talk about toppling a democratically elected government of a state? Is the constitution of the country being changed? He can never make such a comment that if BJP wins 35 Lok Sabha seats, the state government won't complete the full term," PTI quoted Banerjee as telling reporters on Monday.

Last Friday, Shah targeted the Bengal government over the recent violence during the Ram Navami celebration. "Can't Ram Navami processions be taken out in Bengal? Will they be attacked?" India Today quoted him as saying at a rally in Birbhum.

"It is Didi's (Mamata Banerjee) appeasement that has led to thisâ€æ Once the BJP government is formed in the state, no one will have the courage to attack the Ram Navami procession," Shah said.

The Union Home Minister said that Mamata is dreaming to make her nephew the next Chief Minister. "From here in Birbhum, I say that the next CM is going to be from BJP. The trailer has to be shown in 2024 (general elections)," says Shah in Birbhum, West Bengal.

He said, "The only way to fight against the crimes of Didi and Bhaipo is BJP. The only way to free Bengal of terror is BJP. The only way to stop infiltration in Bengal is BJP... Give us 35 seats in 2024, there will be no need for 2025 (West Bengal polls); before 2025, Mamata Didi's govt will collapse."

The West Bengal CM said that a minister should not speak the language of a "goon" while accusing the centre of hatching a conspiracy to bring down the state government.
