How AI-Powered Tactics Helped Army Neutralise Terrorists In J&K’s Akhnoor
The Indian Army announced on Tuesday that it deployed unmanned vehicles and artificial intelligence (AI) in a successful counter-terrorism operation in Jammu and Kashmir's Akhnoor.
"We utilised unmanned vehicles and AI, which delivered quick and successful results. Sadly, we lost one of our Army dogs who was leading the search operation when militants opened fire on him. His sacrifice saved many lives," said Major General Sameer Shrivastava, GoC 10 Infantry Division, in a briefing.

The sniffer dog, Phantom, a four-year-old, was killed in action after sustaining fatal injuries while attempting to shield troops from the assault.
The operation, which neutralised three terrorists, was triggered by an attack on an Army convoy ambulance in Akhnoor on Monday. "Upon detecting the terrorists, we received immediate information from local villagers, enabling our swift response. The way the terrorists were armed suggested a larger intent," Shrivastava added, noting that intelligence agencies worked in coordination for the operation.
Operation Asan, launched by Indian security forces as part of their counter-offensive, included the deployment of BMPs due to the area's steep terrain and dense forest. The area was quickly sealed off, and Jammu and Kashmir police joined security forces in a coordinated search effort.
