Honour for Punjab: Girl joins as judge where her father sells tea!

Jalandhar, Dec 30: It's a dream of all parents to see their children as successful professionals. And when parents are not too educated and they struggle and put their hard-earned money into the education of their children, then, this happiness becomes more precious.

In Jalandhar district of Punjab, Surendra Kumar, a tea seller at a court complex of the sub-divisional magistrate in Nakodar town, became a proud father when his daughter joined the same court as a judge!

Judge

According to media reports, his 23-year-old daughter Shruti passed the Punjab Civil Services (Judicial) Examination in the first attempt, and after a year's training at the academy, she is now ready to take the position of a Judge in the same court.

She graduated from Guru Nanak Dev University and then she did her further studies in law at Punjab University, Patiala.

While calling it a dream come true, Shruti told a leading daily, "I always wanted to be associated with the legal profession. I wanted to be a judge. I sat for the examination and stood first in the SC category."

Rajya Sabha MP and BJP vice-president Avinash Rai Khanna described Shruti's success as "an honour for Punjab."
