Honeymoon Horror: Sonam Planned to Kill Raja Raghuvanshi With a Pistol, Stage Robbery in Failed Guwahati Plot
In yet another shocking development in the honeymoon murder case, Meghalaya police have uncovered chilling new details about the alleged premeditated murder of Raja Raghuvanshi by his wife Sonam Raghuvanshi and her alleged lover Raj Kushwaha. The crime, which took place in Shillong, was reportedly the result of a long-planned conspiracy.

According to reports, Sonam and Raj had devised multiple plans to kill Raja Raghuvanshi. One involved shooting him during their trip and staging it as a robbery by stealing his jewellery. However, that plan reportedly could not be executed in Guwahati or other potential locations.
Police Hunt for Crucial Evidence
Investigators are now on the lookout for a black bag allegedly taken by Sonam as she fled Shillong after the murder. The bag is believed to contain a pistol and ₹5 lakh in cash-evidence that could significantly strengthen the case against her.
East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police Vivek Syiem confirmed that a team from the Shillong police has been investigating in Indore for the past three days. They have searched Sonam's house, office, warehouse, and a rented flat she stayed in between May 26 and June 8. The team also searched locations linked to Raj Kushwaha.
Masterminds or Manipulated?
The Special Investigation Team (SIT), which presented Sonam and Raj before the court on Thursday, described them as calculated and dangerous. Further custodial interrogation is being considered to uncover the full extent of the plot and identify all parties involved.
In Indore, the SIT Crime Branch questioned Sonam Raghuvanshi's brother Govind, an employee, and a driver for over five hours in connection with the murder of Raja Raghuvanshi. Investigators focused on potential financial transactions, Sonam's personal relationships, and her connection with co-accused Raj Kushwaha.
Escape Route and Timeline
Investigators have also questioned Piyush, the taxi driver who drove Sonam on June 8. He confirmed that Raj Kushwaha booked the vehicle with a ₹15,000 cash deposit. Sonam was picked up from a flat at 4 AM, accompanied by co-accused Akash Rajput. The driver was initially instructed to drop her in UP's Ballia but had to leave her at Ghazipur Road bypass due to ID verification issues at another cab service.
After being dropped off, Sonam reportedly received a phone call and abruptly changed her destination. She later contacted her brother Govind from a roadside eatery named Kashi Dhaba.
Amid the unfolding investigation, the Meghalaya government has decided not to pursue defamation charges against the families of Raja and Sonam, after both parties issued formal apologies.
As the probe deepens, the police are examining evidence linking Akash Rajput and others to the crime. More arrests and disclosures may follow as investigators close in on the truth behind this deeply disturbing case.
