Home Minister Amit Shah Addresses Rajya Sabha On Constitution, India's Economic Growth

During a debate in the Parliament, Home Minister Amit Shah highlighted the Constitution's role in India's progress. He credited the Centre's efforts for making India the world's fifth-largest economy. Shah emphasised that parliamentary debates are educational for the youth and help citizens discern which parties respect the Constitution.

Amit Shah expressed gratitude to Sardar Patel, acknowledging his contributions to India's strong global standing. He remarked on India's democratic resilience over 75 years, contrasting it with other nations where democracy failed. Shah noted that India has made changes without bloodshed and has democratically overcome dictators' arrogance.

Constitutional Debates and Political Criticism

In response to opposition from Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge, Amit Shah criticised him as a "coward." He challenged Congress to accept responsibility for amending the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha tenures and other constitutional changes. Shah questioned why Congress blamed EVMs in Maharashtra but not in Jharkhand, where their alliance won.

Shah intensified his critique of Congress by questioning the rationale behind declaring an emergency in India. He asked if it was due to an attack on India, answering himself that it was because Indira Gandhi's election was declared illegal by Allahabad High Court.

India's Democratic Journey

The Home Minister contrasted Congress's post-colonial actions with those of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government. He stated that Modi's leadership liberated India from a colonial mindset. This statement underscores a shift towards self-reliance and national pride under current governance.

Amit Shah believes these discussions will educate young Indians about political history and party ideologies. By understanding past actions, citizens can better appreciate democratic values and constitutional integrity.

The debate also highlighted differing perspectives on India's political journey since independence. While acknowledging challenges, Shah focused on achievements under current leadership, aiming to inspire confidence in India's future trajectory.
