Jammu and Kashmir BJP Reports Strong Public Support for Article 370 Abrogation Following Assembly Elections
The Jammu and Kashmir BJP has declared its top position in vote percentage as a public endorsement of the central government's decision to revoke Article 370. A special core group meeting was held, urging party MLAs to stay committed to the party's goals and act as a vigilant opposition in the Assembly. The meeting emphasised ensuring no injustice is done to the Jammu region by the National Conference-led government, which they claim focuses primarily on Kashmir.

BJP's Electoral Success and Public Support
During the meeting, presided over by BJP JK president Ravinder Raina at the party headquarters, an in-depth discussion took place regarding the recent elections for the UT of JK Assembly. The BJP expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his leadership, which they believe led to their historic victory. The party secured 29 seats and achieved approximately 26% of the vote share, marking their number one position in terms of vote percentage.
The BJP's success and leading position in vote percentage are seen as a majority endorsement of the central government's decision to abrogate Article 370. This decision, along with others, has instilled public confidence and helped contain terrorism in JK. In the assembly polls, results declared on October 8 showed BJP winning 29 out of 90 seats with a 25.64% vote share. Meanwhile, the NC won 42 seats with 23.43% of votes.
Gratitude and Commitment to Jammu Region
The BJP acknowledged the support from JK's people, especially in Jammu, for backing their policies. They also thanked party workers for their dedication, which convinced voters to support their Nation First principles. Despite challenges and a misleading campaign by the National Conference leading to a one-sided election in Kashmir, BJP claims real victory lies with them for creating electoral history in J&K.
The core group resolved that all BJP Legislative Assembly members remain dedicated to serving JK's people, particularly in Jammu. They pledged to ensure justice for Jammu residents and instructed members to act as vigilant opposition against any injustice from the primarily Kashmir-centric National Conference government.
Strengthening Democracy and Leadership
The core group also committed to strengthening democracy and democratic institutions in JK through hard work and dedication. Attendees included MP Jugal Kishore, working president Sat Sharma, national secretary Narinder Singh, general secretary Ashok Koul, general secretary Vibodh Gupta, MLA D K Manyal, MLAs Devender Singh Rana, Surjit Singh Salathia, Shyam Lal Sharma, Shakti Raj Parihar, Sunil Sethi, Balwant Mankotia, and chief spokesperson Ajay Bharti.
The BJP highlighted its increased vote share in Kashmir as approval for development driven by the central government and LG administration. They resolved to alleviate public suffering through honesty and dedication while ensuring democratic processes are upheld across JK.
