Heritage Train In Gujarat: Check Ticket Price, Timings, Route & More
Gujarat's first heritage train was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday.
It will run from Ekta Nagar to Ahmedabad, bringing tourists to the Statue of Unity, the memorial to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
Speaking at the occasion, PM Modi said, "The train is a blend of heritage and modern facilities," This is the latest to join the list of heritage trains after Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, Nilgiri Mountain Railway, Kangra Valley Railway, Kalka-Shimla Railway, Matheran Hill Railway, etc.

Heritage Train In Gujarat: All About It
The train's motor coach mimics a steam locomotive design, featuring panoramic windows with roller blinds. An air-conditioned restaurant dining car, accommodating 28 passengers, boasts teak wood dining tables and cushioned seating on two-seater sofas.
Equipped with a pantry and electrically operated appliances, the train includes Fiber Reinforced Plastic (FRP) modular toilets fitted with branded fixtures. Further amenities include GPS-based Public Address and Passenger Information Systems (PAPIS), luggage rack setups akin to TEJAS Express coaches, and automatic sliding doors in the compartments, all electrically operated.

- The train will depart Ahmedabad at 6:10 am and reach Ekta Nagar, the railway station at Kevadia (Ekta Nagar), which is home to the Statue of Unity in the reservoir of the Sardar Sarovar dam, at 9:50 am.
- On the return journey, the train will depart from Ekta Nagar at 8:23 pm and reach Ahmedabad at five minutes past midnight.
- However, the train will not have any stoppage during the 182-km journey between Ekta Nagar and Ahmedabad.
Will The Trains Run Everyday?
"The train will ply as a weekly service on Sundays from November 5. The frequency will be increased after taking into account the response to the service," PTI quoted Jitendra Kumar Singh, Divisional Railway Manager, Vadodara, as saying.
All the coaches have teak wood interiors designed at the Integral Coach Factory at Perambur, Chennai.
It has three coaches having 48 seats each and tourists can enjoy a cup of tea and snacks in the 28-seater AC restaurant dining car with teak wood dining tables and two-seater cushioned sofas.

- It offers a variety of tourist attractions such as a jungle safari, rafting, a maze, cruises, light and sound shows, a glow garden, and the Narmada Aarti.
- The departure schedule of the heritage train enables tourists to organize their return journey, allowing them to enjoy the light and sound show and other late-evening events beforehand.
