Heavy Snowfall At Kedarnath, Yet Devotees Continue Standing In Long Queues Amid Freezing Temperatures, Watch

Even as weather conditions turned harsh once again in the Himalayan region, thousands of devotees continued their pilgrimage to Kedarnath Dham with unwavering faith.

Continuous snowfall and freezing temperatures have made conditions difficult, yet pilgrims remain determined to complete their spiritual journey.

Severe Cold as Temperature Drops Below Zero

Over the past few days, weather in Uttarakhand has worsened, especially in the high-altitude areas. At Kedarnath, snowfall began early in the morning and continued through the day, covering the entire region in a thick white layer.

Temperatures dropped to around minus 5°C, making it extremely cold for visitors. Despite this, long queues of devotees were seen waiting patiently for their turn to offer prayers.

Long Queues Despite Harsh Weather

Pilgrims stood in extended lines for hours, holding umbrellas and braving rain and snow. Many continued chanting "Har Har Mahadev" as they moved slowly towards the temple.

The administration has made arrangements for safety and crowd management, but the rising number of visitors has led to longer waiting times.

Faith Overcomes Difficulties

Scenes at Kedarnath and other Char Dham sites show how strong faith can be even in difficult conditions. Devotees, undeterred by cold winds and snowfall, continued their journey while chanting the names of the holy shrines.

Similar enthusiasm was visible at Badrinath Temple, Gangotri Temple, and Yamunotri Temple, where pilgrims also faced cold weather but showed no sign of slowing down.

A Unique Experience for Devotees

Interestingly, many devotees described the snowfall in May as a special and memorable experience. While some gathered around bonfires to keep warm, others enjoyed the rare sight of snow during this time of year.

Some pilgrims were even seen taking photos and videos, capturing what they described as a "once-in-a-lifetime" moment.

Pilgrim Footfall Remains High

Despite the harsh weather, the number of devotees visiting the Char Dham remains significant. On Monday alone:

• Yamunotri: 8,818 visitors
• Gangotri: 8,393 visitors
• Kedarnath: 19,447 visitors
• Badrinath: 13,939 visitors

These numbers highlight the strong spiritual pull of the pilgrimage, even under challenging conditions.

The ongoing snowfall at Kedarnath has made the pilgrimage tougher, but it has not weakened the faith of devotees. Their determination to continue despite extreme cold reflects the deep spiritual importance of the Char Dham Yatra.
