Heavy Rains Lash Delhi-NCR, Waterlogging Situation On ITO Road. Check updates

Parts of Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) received heavy rains this morning, leading to waterlogging in several areas.

All schools up to class 12 in Noida and Greater Noida will remain closed on Wednesday due to rain and waterlogging, the Gautam Buddh Nagar district administration said.

"Due to rains and waterlogging, District Magistrate Manish Kumar Verma has ordered closure of all schools up to Class 12 for today," District Inspector of Schools Dharmveer Singh said.

According to the Regional Weather Forecasting Centre (RWFC) in Delhi, there is a forecast for thunderstorms accompanied by light to moderate intensity rain in many areas. The affected regions include North-East Delhi, Central Delhi, New Delhi, South Delhi, South-East Delhi, East Delhi, and the National Capital Region (NCR), which encompasses Loni Dehat, Hindon AF Station, Ghaziabad, Indirapuram, Chhapraula, Noida, Dadri, Greater Noida, Faridabad, Manesar, and Ballabhgarh.

In addition, the neighboring areas of Loharu in Haryana, as well as Shamli, Khatauli, Sakoti Tanda, Hastinapur, Chandpur, Daurala, Meerut, Modinagar, Garhmukteshwar, Pilakhua, Hapur, Gulaoti, Siyana, and Bulandshahar in Uttar Pradesh, are also expected to experience the same thunderstorm activity with light to moderate rainfall.

Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has has issued a comprehensive forecast, detailing the expected rainfall patterns across various regions of the country.

In the northern parts of India, including Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, and west Uttar Pradesh, the IMD predicts light to moderate rainfall with isolated heavy spells from July 25 to July 29. Meanwhile, the coastal areas of Konkan, Goa, and ghat regions of central Maharashtra are likely to experience light to moderate rainfall, with some areas even expecting heavy to very heavy showers until July 29.

Moving towards the western region, the IMD forecasts similar weather conditions for west Rajasthan on July 26, east Uttar Pradesh on July 28 and 29, and east Rajasthan and Jammu and Kashmir on July 26 and 27. These areas can expect a mix of light to moderate rainfall with isolated heavy downpours during the mentioned dates.

The eastern states of Odisha, sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim are also on the IMD's radar, with predictions of light to moderate rainfall continuing until July 28, and isolated heavy rainfall expected on July 27 and 28. In Bihar, the monsoon is anticipated to bring light to moderate rainfall starting from July 28.

In central India, the states of Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh are likely to witness light to moderate fairly rainfall with isolated heavy spells until July 28. On July 26, west Madhya Pradesh will experience similar weather conditions, while east Madhya Pradesh is expected to have similar patterns during July 26-28. Additionally, the IMD has issued a warning of isolated very heavy rainfall over Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh on July 26 and 27, and over east Madhya Pradesh and the Gujarat region on July 27.

The southern states are also in for varied rainfall. On July 26, parts of coastal and north interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal can expect light to moderate rainfall with isolated heavy spells. Similarly, parts of coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Rayalaseema, south interior Karnataka, Kerala, and Mahe will likely witness similar weather conditions until July 27. In Telangana, the IMD predicts light to moderate rainfall with isolated heavy spells until July 28.

The northeastern states, including Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya, are also under the influence of the monsoon, with similar weather conditions likely to persist until July 29. In Nagaland, Mizoram, Manipur, and Tripura, light to scattered rainfall with isolated heavy spells is expected on July 28 and 29. The IMD has additionally warned of isolated very heavy rainfall over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya on July 27 and 28.
