Heavy rains create flood-like situation in parts of Maharashtra
The IMD has sounded heavy rain alert in central Maharashtra and Goa
Incessant heavy rains have left villages inundated in parts of Maharashtra. District administrations in regions like Gadchiroli, Ahmednagar, Buldana, Chandrapur are on high alert over flooding of water bodies.

On Wednesday heavy rains resulted in a flood-like situation in Bhamragarh and Chamorshi of Gadchiroli district. Incessant rains brought down the roof of a school. District administration officials who have been monitoring the situation said that a river Gadchiroli city, Kathani, was flowing with maximum capacity. While the traffic remained undisrupted till Wednesday afternoon, officials issued advisory asking people to exercise caution.
More rains are predicted for Ahmednagar, Akola, Amravati, Aurangabad, Bhandara, Bid, Buldana and Chandrapur in next 24 hours. Khobragadi River near Aarmori has remained flooded since the last 36 hours, according to district administration. Officials, however, claimed that the situation was under control despite tributaries of the river inundating few places.
The IMD has sounded heavy rain alert in central Maharashtra and Konkan-Goa for the next 24 hours. Red and orange alerts have been issued for the Konkan and Goa region including Alibaug, Bhira, Dahanu, Goa, Harnai, Mumbai and Ratnagiri. The Madhya Maharashtra region includes Pune, Ahmednagar, Jalgaon, Jeur, Kolhapur, Mahabaleshwar, Malegaon, Nasik, Sangli, Satara and Solapur.
The IMD has asked people to exercise caution while travelling along hilly regions such as Mahabaleshwar, Jalgaon and Nashik.
