Heavy Rain Lash Delhi/NCR Bringing Respite From Heat And Humidity

This rainfall over a weekend came as a significant relief for residents experiencing scorching heat accompanied by humidity over several days. Humidity was recorded at 84 percent at 8:30 AM on 23rd September while the Air Quality Index (AQI) was 112 at noon, according to the IMD.

Residents rejoiced with a sigh of relief from the harsh weather and shared some amazing visuals from the brief period of rain and winds that lashed Delhi/NCR.

One user Kunal Anand, while sharing some amazing visuals on his social media handle Facebook said, "Nothing can be better than a Saturday afternoon with my family and the rain... Awesome Mausam"

Another resident Indu Sanwal shared a video with One India and said, " A much-needed relief but, humidity after a brief period of rain is also a big problem here. It only makes things worse. I hope the weather Gods become gracious enough to relieve us of this misery in the future as well"

Not only Delhi/NCR but also Chandigarh and its neighboring regions enjoyed relief from the oppressive weather, thanks to heavy rain on Saturday. According to the IMD, the union territory received 11.2mm of rainfall.

While the rains brought respite to Northern states, Maharashtra had a different story to tell. Nagpur city was inundated with rainfall, leading to a large-scale rescue operation. Maharashtra Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis reported the need to rescue 180 individuals, including 40 students from a school for the hearing and speech-impaired. Furthermore, two Army units are currently en route to Ambazari, where a lake overflowed. In addition to the Army, both the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) are actively engaged in rescue missions, working diligently to assist people in flooded homes and streets.
