Heartbreaking: Man Takes Sister's Body Home On Bike After Ambulance Shortage In UP's Auraiya
In a deeply distressing incident, a young man found himself compelled to transport his sister's lifeless body on a motorcycle, as hospital authorities in Uttar Pradesh's Auraiya district were unable to provide an ambulance. This heart-wrenching event unfolded at the Bidhuna Community Health Center (CHC) on a Wednesday morning. Subsequently, two doctors who were assigned to the health center were relieved of their duties.
Dr. Shishir Kumar Verma, the Chief Medical Officer, reported that a thorough investigation was conducted, leading to the removal of the health center's superintendent, Dr. Avichal Pandey, and Dr. Kriparam. These actions were carried out in accordance with directives from Uttar Pradesh Health Minister and Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, as stated by Verma.

The deceased, identified as Anjali (20), was the daughter of Prabal Pratap Singh, a resident of Naveen Basti West. Tragically, she had suffered electrocution after accidentally coming into contact with an immersion rod used for heating water. Anjali was swiftly rushed to the hospital, where doctors declared her lifeless. Consequently, her grieving brother was left with the heartbreaking task of holding his sister's lifeless body while searching in vain for an ambulance to transport her back home.
In a poignant display of resourcefulness, Anjali's elder sister and brother secured her body with a dupatta and placed it on the motorcycle. Shockingly, none of the officials at the CHC offered any assistance in arranging an ambulance for the distressed siblings. Consequently, they departed for their home without conducting a post-mortem examination on the deceased.
Uttar Pradesh Congress used the platform of X (formerly Twitter) to criticise the state's BJP government. They shared a video captured outside the Bidhuna CHC in Auraiya, where a grieving brother struggled to place his sister's lifeless body on a motorcycle. The tweet conveyed their frustration, highlighting the dire consequences of not having access to an ambulance.
The message continued, emphasizing the recurring loss of lives in the state due to ambulance unavailability, delayed hospital arrivals, or insufficient resources. It lamented the government's seeming indifference to these critical issues and urged contemplation of the sister's promise of protection when she tied a Rakhi on her brother's wrist. The tweet concluded with the poignant question of whether the brother ever imagined he would be left in such a helpless situation when it came to saving his sister.
