Havoc on Yamuna Expressway: Over 20 cars ram into each other due to smog
The collision took place on both sides of the expressway as thick fog engulfed regions near Delhi-NCR.
Several people were injured after around 20 cars rammed into each other on the Agra-Noida Yamuna Expressway due to low visibility on Wednesday.

In the Yamuna Expressway near Mathura's Baldeo area, more than 20 vehicles collided, while 10 vehicles collided in Gautam Buddha Nagar's Dankaur area.

The thick smog is a result of pollution, low temprature and burning of crop stubbles in Haryana and Punjab. The air quality in Delhi is so poor that schools have been shut till Sunday.

As a thick blanket of haze hung low over the national capital, visibility levels plunged, affecting flight and train operations. It permeated living rooms and even the underground metro stations in the city making it difficult to breathe, turning eyes watery and producing burning sensation.

Several parts of north India, and in particular New Delhi, suffer from a dip in temperature during this time of the year that traps air pollution resulting in thick smog cover.
The visibilty had dropped so low this morning that people were using fog lamps at even 7 am.

Visibility remained poor till late in the morning
The government has also issued a health advisory for residents of the city, especially children, the elderly and those suffering from asthma and heart ailments.
