Haryana's New Urban Housing Scheme Aims To Empower Poor Families
The Chief Minister Urban Housing Scheme in Haryana, aligning with Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, aims to provide homes to poor families, with 15,250 beneficiaries already receiving plot allotment certificates.
The government has introduced the Chief Minister Urban Housing Scheme to help poor families in Haryana own homes. This initiative aligns with the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, aiming to provide housing for all. Today, plot allotment certificates were distributed to 15,250 beneficiaries.
Chief Minister Manohar Lal attended the state-level event at Maharshi Dayanand University in Rohtak. He handed over plot allotment letters to the beneficiaries. Similar events were held in Yamunanagar, Palwal, Sirsa, and Mahendragarh. Addressing the gathering, Manohar Lal expressed his joy at fulfilling the dreams of poor families to own homes.

Manohar Lal emphasised that the Chief Minister Urban Housing Scheme is more than just a scheme; it is an effort by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the government to bring happiness to the poor. He stated that the government's goal is to simplify and strengthen the lives of poor families so they can grow and provide better education for their children.
He criticised the previous government for showing plots to poor people but not providing them with any papers or actual plots. He mentioned a recent event in Sonipat where possession certificates for 100-square-yard plots were given to poor people. Additionally, if land is unavailable in villages, Rs 1 lakh will be sent to eligible people's accounts to buy plots.
The Chief Minister announced that officials have been instructed to develop a portal for those who are eligible but have not yet benefited from the scheme or for others who wish to apply. Recently, over one lakh eligible beneficiaries from the Labour Department received benefits worth Rs 80 crore under various schemes.
The state government has also distributed Happy Cards under the Haryana Antyodaya Parivar Parivahan Yojana. These cards benefit families with an income of less than Rs 1 lakh, allowing them 1,000 km of free bus travel annually. There are about 23 lakh such families in Haryana, comprising around 84 lakh members.
Solar Panel Scheme and Opposition Criticism
Manohar Lal highlighted the PM Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme launched by the Central Government. Families with an annual income below Rs 1.80 lakh can benefit from this scheme. The cost of setting up a solar panel is Rs 1.10 lakh, with Rs 60 thousand provided by the Central Government and Rs 50 thousand by the Haryana Government. This scheme aims to reduce electricity bills to zero and generate additional income from surplus electricity sold back to the government.
The Chief Minister criticised opposition parties for misleading people during elections by claiming that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would abolish the Constitution and Reservation if elected for a third term. He assured that Modi has governed according to the Constitution for ten years and that it remains safe while Congress is declining.
Employment and Electricity Benefits
Manohar Lal mentioned that their government had planned to give five marks to poor families without jobs during recruitment processes. However, opposition parties challenged this in the Supreme Court. Despite this setback, he assured that they would continue fighting and might even pass a law in the assembly to ensure these families receive jobs.
He also stated that families with a 2-kilowatt electricity connection would only be billed for their actual consumption. Since becoming Prime Minister in 2014, Narendra Modi has dedicated his government to helping the poor, and this double-engine government continues working towards empowering them.
Government's Commitment
On this occasion, Subhash Sudha, Minister of State for Urban Local Bodies, congratulated beneficiaries who received plot allotment letters under the Chief Minister's Urban Housing Scheme. He noted that families with an annual income below Rs 1.80 lakh applied for this scheme and received benefits today.
Sudha added that beneficiaries would receive a grant of Rs 1.50 lakh for house construction under the Prime Minister Awas Yojana Urban. The government aims to support not only the poor but also labourers, needy individuals, and all sections of society.
The event was attended by Rajya Sabha MP Ramchandra Jangra, former minister Manish Grover, Commissioner and Secretary of Housing for All Department Mohammad Shain, Director General of Housing for All Department J Ganesan, Vice Chancellor Prof. Rajbir Singh, along with many beneficiaries and district administration officials.
