Haryana Police Stations Fortify Security with Statewide CCTV Installation
In a significant move to enhance public safety and police efficiency in Haryana, the Haryana Police Housing Corporation (HPHC) has announced the completion of a state-wide CCTV camera installation project. This initiative has equipped all 715 police stations and police posts across the state with a high-tech surveillance system. The official announcement made on Tuesday highlighted that the project encompasses 333 police posts and 382 police stations, marking a comprehensive effort to bolster security measures throughout Haryana.

The newly installed surveillance infrastructure comprises 2,953 fixed bullet cameras and 4,600 dome cameras, ensuring extensive coverage and monitoring capabilities across the region. This system is designed to support thorough documentation and investigation processes with its advanced feature of 18 months of audio and video recording. Efficient data management is facilitated through dedicated server storage solutions for police stations and network video recorder storage for police posts.
A pivotal component of this security upgrade is the central monitoring system located at the Emergency Response Support System (ERSS) -- 112 -- in Panchkula. This setup enables real-time monitoring and alerts, ensuring the system's optimal functionality. The ERSS, a pan-India single number 112-based emergency response mechanism, is now further strengthened in Haryana with this integration. Moreover, an uninterrupted power supply with a 10-hour backup has been installed to guarantee continuous surveillance operations, even during power disruptions.
As part of ensuring the seamless integration and functionality of this extensive system, rigorous testing is currently being conducted. The full operation of this surveillance network is scheduled to commence on June 10. This project was initiated in December 2020, following a Supreme Court directive aimed at enhancing public safety and improving police effectiveness. With the state government's approval in January 2022, HPHC embarked on this Rs 106 crore project. The task of system integration was awarded to M/s Broadcast Engineering Consultant India Private Limited, a Government of India PSU, through a transparent e-tendering process.
This initiative represents a significant investment in public safety infrastructure, demonstrating the Haryana government's commitment to leveraging technology for enhancing security measures. By providing police stations and posts with advanced surveillance capabilities, the project aims not only to deter criminal activities but also to aid in faster response and resolution of incidents. As the system goes fully operational, it is expected to play a crucial role in improving law enforcement efficiency and ensuring a safer environment for the citizens of Haryana.
