Haryana Minister Advocates For Support To Self-Help Groups To Aid Poor

Mahipal Dhanda emphasizes the importance of supporting self-help groups to achieve India's development goals and eradicate poverty by 2047.

Haryana's Development and Panchayat Minister Mahipal Dhanda has urged industrialists and society to support the poor by buying products from self-help groups. The government is committed to the welfare of the poor. Cooperation is needed to strengthen these groups and make India a developed nation while eradicating poverty.

Dhanda was speaking at the CXO Meet of Self Help Groups in Surajkund, Faridabad, on Saturday. The event was under the Deendayal Upadhyay Rural Skill Development Programme by the Haryana State Rural Livelihood Mission. Dhanda said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi aims to make India a developed nation by 2047. The state government is working fast to achieve this goal.

Empowering Self-Help Groups in Haryana

To make India a global leader again, half of the country's population must be empowered. Industrialists' support is crucial for this. Millions of women need to be empowered through self-help groups. About six lakh women have joined these groups in Haryana. More opportunities will be provided by setting up a common market for them.

Dhanda suggested setting up counters for these women in posh areas across all districts. He also mentioned efforts to increase farmers' income through the Cooperation Department. A policy for cash crops will be made, and there is a high demand for milk, curd, and ghee in NCR. Vita booths will be set up to meet this demand.

Work will also be done with farmers to meet the demand for vegetables. Dhanda shared examples from his hatchery industry to show that there is no shortage of talent in the country. Talented youth need the right platform and opportunity. Many families earn less than one lakh rupees, but their youth have skills that need honing.

The government will support skill development under the Gobardhan scheme, which includes steps towards electricity generation. Dhanda praised the art of women in self-help groups who make earthenware. He said that using earthenware can keep 95 percent of diseases away from home.

Programs are being run to provide skill development to youth and women. A university has been established in Palwal for this purpose. During the event, SK Tiwari, Director of Skill Development Government of India, and Dr Amrinder Kaur, CEO of Haryana State Rural Livelihood Mission, gave detailed information about skill development schemes.

The second session of the CXO Meet discussed skill development in detail and brainstormed ways to advance self-help groups. Youth who got jobs after skill training and officers who contributed significantly were honoured. Dhanda inspected various stalls set up by self-help groups and appreciated the work done by women.
