Haryana Man Throws 'Divorce Party', Dances To Bollywood Song Standing Next to Ex-Wife's Mannequin | WATCH

India's wedding season is renowned for its extravagant splendour, but what happens when the celebrations are over, and marriages fall apart? In a country where divorces are typically a private matter, the idea of celebrating separation-a trend popular abroad-is gradually gaining traction.

A Unique Celebration

Haryana Man Throws Divorce Party

Recently, a man from Haryana grabbed attention by hosting a divorce party that quickly went viral, stirring widespread discussion on social media.

Manjeet, a Haryana resident, married Komal in 2020. However, after three stormy years, their marriage ended in divorce this year. Instead of concealing the separation, Manjeet chose to commemorate the event with a grand gathering.

The party included a poster prominently featuring Manjeet and Komal's wedding photograph, alongside the dates of their marriage and divorce. Highlighting the milestone, several cakes were on display, and Manjeet was seen cutting them amid cheers, celebrating his newfound "freedom."

Adding to the unconventional nature of the event, a mannequin, said to symbolise his ex-wife, was present. In a series of images, Manjeet posed with the mannequin, creating visuals that quickly became a talking point online.

Social Media Reacts

The video of Manjeet's divorce party sparked diverse reactions on social media, with users expressing a mix of astonishment, amusement, and introspection.

One user commented, "This is what happens when frustration takes over. People need outlets for their emotions." Another observed, "It's funny but also sad-it shows how mismatched unions can lead to extreme reactions."

Some viewed the celebration as empowering. "Why not celebrate a new chapter in life? It's a bold move," said another. However, not all reactions were supportive. One sceptical commenter wrote, "This feels disrespectful to the institution of marriage."

Another perspective reflected on the cultural evolution: "India is changing, for better or worse, who knows? But this is certainly new."
