Haryana Raises OBC Creamy Layer Income Limit To Rs 8 Lakh

Haryana CM announces increased creamy layer income limit for OBCs to Rs 8 lakh, excluding salary and agricultural income, aiming at welfare and job reservation.

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar announced measures for the welfare of Other Backward Classes (OBCs) in the state. The annual creamy layer income limit for OBC reservation in jobs will increase from Rs 6 lakh to Rs 8 lakh. Salary and agricultural income will not be included in this limit.

Khattar said this change will benefit many people. He also mentioned that the backlog of reserved posts for Backward Class-A and Backward Class-B will be filled on priority. A special recruitment drive will start soon to address this issue.

OBC Income Limit Raised in Haryana

The chief minister spoke at the OBC Morcha Sarv Samaj Samrasta Sammelan in Gurugram. He praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his commitment to safeguarding OBC interests. Khattar said both Central and state governments are implementing schemes to respect and support the OBC community.

In the past 10 years, the government has worked to benefit the OBC community at every level. By linking people with schemes like 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas’, the government has empowered people and taken development projects to all sections of society.

The Central government has declared OBC-dominated and backward areas as aspirational districts. Haryana’s Nuh district is included in this scheme, receiving consistent development projects.

To provide quality education to OBC children, the Haryana government offers scholarships ranging from Rs 12,000 to Rs 20,000. The government is also focusing on skill development for OBC members. Prime Minister Modi has allocated Rs 13,000 crore under the 'Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Yojana’ for training in 18 trades.

OBC community members receive financial aid of Rs 500 per day during their training. After completing the course, they get a kit worth Rs 15,000. Khattar expressed satisfaction that more benefits have been provided to OBCs in the last ten years than by previous governments.

Haryana Vidhan Sabha Deputy Speaker Ranbir Gangwa, OBC Morcha state president Karnadev Kamboj, Rajya Sabha MP Ram Chander Jangra, and other dignitaries attended the event.
