Polling began on October 5, with 1,027 candidates competing for 90 Assembly seats. Notable figures include Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, Congress's Bhupinder Singh Hooda, and JJP's Dushyant Chautala.

The election features candidates from Haryana's prominent political families, including descendants of former chief ministers Bansi Lal, Devi Lal, and Bhajan Lal. This adds intrigue to the electoral battle as some family members compete against each other. Additionally, several other political families have entered the fray.

Key parties in the election include the BJP, Congress, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), and alliances like JJP-Azad Samaj Party and INLD-BSP. The Congress has strategically left the Bhiwani seat for its INDIA bloc partner CPI(M). Meanwhile, the BJP has allowed Gopal Kanda of Haryana Lokhit Party to contest in Sirsa.

Haryana's Chief Electoral Officer Pankaj Agarwal reported that 20,354,350 voters are eligible to vote. This includes 8,821 centenarians—3,283 men and 5,538 women. A total of 20,632 polling booths have been established across the state to facilitate voting under tight security measures.

In terms of candidate demographics, there are 101 female candidates and 464 independents among those contesting. The previous assembly elections in 2019 saw the BJP securing 40 seats while Congress won 31 seats and JJP captured 10 seats.

The Congress is eager to reclaim power after a decade by unseating the BJP. Meanwhile, AAP has also fielded candidates in hopes of gaining a foothold in Haryana politics. The multi-cornered contest promises an engaging electoral battle with several key players vying for dominance.

As the election unfolds with various parties and alliances competing fiercely for control over Haryana's legislative assembly, it remains to be seen how these dynamics will shape the state's political landscape moving forward.
