The investment will be shared between the Centre and the Haryana government, with Rs 896.19 crore coming from the Centre and Rs 4,556.53 crore from the state. The metro will feature a medium-sized system operating on a standard gauge. It will use Communication-Based Train Control (CBTC) signalling and reach speeds of up to 80 km per hour.

Metro Project Details and Infrastructure

Initially, the metro will run with three coaches, but there is potential for expansion to six coaches. As part of the project, five underpasses and flyovers are also planned. The Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the metro line connecting Millennium City to Cyber City has received approval from both Haryana and central governments.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for this project on February 16 this year. The metro line will include 27 stations, with eight designated as model stations and one depot. Gurugram Metro Rail Limited (GMRL) is seeking candidates for 20 key positions through deputation or immediate inclusion for this project.

Progress and Future Plans

The geotechnical investigation for the first package covering 13 km has been completed. Civil, architecture, and electrical & mechanical work have already begun. Tender bids are expected by January 31 next year to appoint a consultant for constructing the depot and first civil package from Millennium City Centre to Sector-9 and Sector-101 Dwarka, spanning about 13 km.

The second set of tenders will be issued by February 15 for another civil package from Sector-9 to Cyber City, also approximately 13 km long. This structured approach aims to ensure timely progress in developing the metro infrastructure.

This ambitious project aims to enhance connectivity in Gurugram significantly. By expanding public transport options, it seeks to alleviate traffic congestion while providing efficient travel solutions for residents and visitors alike.
