Haryana CM Nayab Saini Sips Yamuna Water, Then Spits Back In Holy River; AAP Shares Video

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini visited Palla village in Delhi to address accusations from Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Saini publicly drank water from the Yamuna River to counter Kejriwal's claims that Haryana had "poisoned" the water supply, allegedly endangering Delhi residents.

Kejriwal had accused Haryana of contaminating Delhi's water, suggesting it could have resulted in mass casualties. Saini dismissed these allegations as "unfortunate," accusing Kejriwal of inciting public fear for political purposes. However, a video showing Saini sipping and then spitting out the river water went viral.

Political Tensions Rise

AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal shared the video on his X (formerly Twitter) account, stating, "Haryana Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini pretended to drink Yamuna water, but spat it back into the river." The clip quickly gained attention online.

Kejriwal further remarked, "When I raised concerns about ammonia-contaminated Yamuna water harming Delhiites, they threatened to file an FIR against me. Now, they expect Delhi residents to drink the very water that their own leaders can't stomach. I won't allow this."

The controversy began when Kejriwal accused Haryana of deliberately poisoning Yamuna water flowing into Delhi. He warned that if this water mixed with Delhi's drinking supply, it could lead to mass casualties. His comments have drawn sharp criticism from the BJP as tensions rise ahead of elections.

Upcoming Elections

The Delhi Assembly elections are scheduled for February 5, 2025, with vote counting on February 8. A total of 699 candidates will contest 70 seats. The Congress party has faced significant losses in recent elections, while AAP has enjoyed sweeping victories in 2015 and 2020.
