Salary Payments to Commence
Utilizing a grant of Rs 2.27 crore provided by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, the MCD has begun clearing the pending salaries of library employees for the year 2021-22. After approximately two and a half years, a total of 52 employees will receive their salaries in the initial phase.
Mayor's Directives
Mayor Shelly Oberoi, who serves as the ex-officio chairperson of the library, convened a meeting with the new management committee of Hardayal Library at the Civic Centre on Tuesday. During the meeting, discussions focused on addressing employee-related issues and improving library amenities.
Mayor Oberoi instructed officials to furnish a comprehensive list of all corporation libraries and a detailed report on their employees within two days. She emphasized her commitment to personally inspecting each library to assess their functioning, staffing levels, and outstanding salary dues. Accompanied by corporation councilors, the mayor intends to conduct thorough inspections of all libraries.
Electricity Bill Payment
According to the MCD's statement, the outstanding electricity bill of Hardayal Library has been settled through a cheque. Additionally, the electricity bill of another library has also been paid.
Financial Irregularities to be Investigated
The MCD intends to investigate any irregularities identified in the libraries to prevent malpractices and misuse of funds.
The MCD's actions demonstrate a commitment to resolving the challenges faced by the Hardayal Municipal Public Library and its employees. By clearing the electricity bill and initiating salary payments, the civic body is addressing long-standing issues and ensuring the smooth functioning of the library.
