Gwalior Woman, Sole Breadwinner, Perishes in Hathras Stampede

A 45-year-old woman from Gwalior, Ramshri, was among the victims of the stampede at Hathras, which resulted in over 120 fatalities. Ramshri, who lived in Jagjivan Nagar, had travelled to Hathras with around ten others to attend a satsang on Tuesday. While her companions managed to escape, Ramshri was separated and later found dead.

Ramshri regularly attended satsangs of Bhole Baba, also known as Narayan Saakar Hari, with her friends. Her companion recounted that they were together until the crowd surged to touch Bhole Baba's feet after the satsang. This sudden rush led to the tragic stampede.

Family in Mourning

Ramshri's son Pankaj shared that they learned about the stampede through a phone call. They immediately went to Hathras and discovered her body at a hospital in Aligarh. Pankaj mentioned that since their father's death in 2014, Ramshri had been the sole provider for her three sons and two daughters by doing various odd jobs.

The family is deeply shocked by her sudden demise. Gwalior collector Ruchika Chauhan dispatched officials to Ramshri's home as her body was transported from Aligarh. The last rites were conducted in the presence of these officials in the evening.

"We were all together until that moment," said one of Ramshri's companions. The chaos during the rush to touch Bhole Baba's feet caused them to lose sight of her. The incident has left a significant impact on those who knew her.

Ramshri's dedication to attending every satsang of Bhole Baba was well-known among her friends. Unfortunately, this devotion led her to be present at the fatal event on Tuesday. Her unexpected death has left a void in her family and community.

The tragedy highlights the dangers of large gatherings and the need for better crowd management to prevent such incidents in the future.
