Gurugram, March 13: In a significant breakthrough, the Gurugram Police have apprehended two members of an interstate vehicle lifting gang that employed sophisticated techniques, including GPS jammers and duplicate key-making devices, to execute their thefts. The arrests resulted in the recovery of seven stolen vehicles, including four SUVs and a motorcycle, along with specialized equipment used in their criminal activities.

Modus Operandi
Acting swiftly on a tip-off, the police apprehended the duo from the New Palam Vihar and Kherki Daula areas on March 7. The accused have been identified as Sunil Kumar (44), a resident of Haryana's Jhajjar district, and Amit Kumar Jangid (29), a resident of Udaipur district in Rajasthan. Both individuals have completed their education up to Class 12.
During interrogation, the duo revealed their modus operandi, which involved meticulous planning and the use of advanced technology. They would first conduct reconnaissance in an area to identify a car parked in an isolated location. Once a suitable target was identified, they would break the vehicle's glass, utilize a specialized electronic device to create duplicate keys, and install jammers to disable the vehicle's GPS tracking system. With these measures in place, they would then swiftly drive away with the stolen car.
Stolen Vehicles Recovered
Subsequent investigation revealed that the gang had stolen four vehicles from Gurugram and three from Delhi. Of the seven vehicles recovered from their possession, four were SUVs, and one was a motorcycle. The stolen vehicles were transported to Jodhpur in Rajasthan, where they were sold for prices ranging from Rs. 1 lakh and above.
Previous Criminal Records
Sunil Kumar, one of the accused, has a history of criminal involvement, with seven cases registered against him in Delhi for robbery, theft, and violations of the Arms Act. Additionally, a case under the Arms Act is also lodged against him in Gurugram.
Recovered Items
In addition to the stolen vehicles, the police seized various items from the accused, including two walkie-talkie sets, a key-making equipment, a rechargeable drill machine, a device used to break car glass, 20 car keys, and four pairs of fake number plates. These items serve as crucial evidence in the ongoing investigation.
Ongoing Investigation
The Gurugram Police are currently interrogating the accused, and they are optimistic that further cases will be solved during the interrogation process. The arrests of Sunil Kumar and Amit Kumar Jangid represent a significant victory in the fight against organized vehicle theft, and the police are committed to bringing all those involved in such criminal activities to justice.
