Gurugram Man Arrested for Allegedly Kidnapping and Attempting to Rape Woman

In Gurugram, a man was arrested for allegedly kidnapping a 23-year-old woman and attempting to rape her. The police acted quickly after receiving information from the woman's friend.

A 23-year-old woman was allegedly kidnapped and nearly raped in the Leopard Trail area of Gurugram's Aravalli region. The incident occurred early on a Sunday morning, according to officials. The police arrested the suspect at the scene, along with his Scorpio car, after receiving information from the woman's friend. An FIR was registered at Badshahpur police station, and the accused was interrogated.

The woman, who hails from Sirsa district, works for a real estate firm in Gurugram and resides in a paying guest facility. She was returning from an event with a male friend when they stopped briefly at Leopard Trail for a walk. Around 3 am, as they headed towards the Aravalli Hills, a man snatched her mobile phone and attempted to escape.

Police Operation and Arrest

After the woman's friend pursued the suspect's car for some distance, he alerted the police. A police team quickly responded to the call and managed to prevent the rape attempt. They apprehended the suspect along with his vehicle, as stated by a senior police officer. The search operation lasted about three hours, and by 5:30 am, they found the suspect's car in a drain near Sakatpur village.

During their investigation, police discovered the accused half-naked in the front seat of his car while the woman was unconscious in the back seat. Despite this, she declined a medical examination. Police are continuing their investigation from all possible angles to gather more information.

Details of the Accused

The accused has been identified as Gaurav Rathi, aged 25, from Pandala village. He previously worked as both a driver and a fruit stall operator. Inspector Vijay Pal, SHO of Badshahpur police station, confirmed that an FIR for kidnapping and attempted rape has been filed against him. Rathi is currently in custody as investigations continue.

The woman's complaint detailed how she confronted the man after he took her phone. He then forcibly pushed her into his Scorpio car and drove towards the forest area. Her friend chased after them before contacting authorities for help.
