Gurugram Hospital Case: Air Hostess Alleges Sexual Assault By Hospital Staff While On Ventilator

A 46-year-old air hostess has accused a staff member of sexually assaulting her while she was on a ventilator in the ICU of a well-known private hospital in Gurugram. According to a CNBC report, the incident reportedly took place on April 6, while she was unconscious and receiving medical treatment.

The victim, who had fallen ill after swimming in a hotel pool, was admitted to the hospital on April 5. She was put on a ventilator the following day. The woman claimed that the assault occurred while she was in a critical condition in the ICU. She was discharged from the hospital on April 13, and after returning home, she informed her husband about the assault. The couple then approached the police and filed a complaint.

In response to the complaint, the Gurugram Police registered an FIR against the unidentified hospital staff member at the Sadar Police Station on April 14. Authorities are now reviewing CCTV footage from the hospital to identify the perpetrator. A police spokesperson confirmed that the victim's statement had been recorded before a magistrate.

"The investigation is ongoing, and we will ensure that the accused is arrested soon," the spokesperson added.

The case has sparked concerns about patient safety and hospital security, especially in sensitive areas such as the ICU. The hospital has not yet made a public statement about the allegations. The police are working to gather more evidence as the probe continues.
