Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s 350th Martyrdom to be Marked with Landmark Special Session of the Punjab Assembly

The city of Anandpur Sahib is gearing up for a grand three-day event from 23rd to 25th November. This gathering commemorates the 350th martyrdom day of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji and his companions.

Organised with great sensitivity by the Punjab government, the event aims not only to honour history but also to connect future generations with the Sikh legacy of sacrifice for humanity, justice, and faith.

Beginning on 23rd November, the celebrations will kick off with an Akhand Path, exhibition, and an interfaith conference. These activities will set a tone of reverence and pride, making the event unforgettable. On 24th November, the focus will shift to deepening the understanding of Sikh history and martyrdom. The morning will commence with the Sheesh Bhenth Nagar Kirtan, a poignant procession marking Bhai Jaita Ji's journey of bringing Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji's head safely to Anandpur Sahib.

Historical Procession and Heritage Walk

Following the Nagar Kirtan, a heritage walk will take participants through important sites like Gurudwara Bhora Sahib, Sheesh Ganj Sahib, Guru Tegh Bahadur Museum, Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib, and Qila Anandgarh Sahib. This walk offers an immersive experience into Guru Sahib's martyrdom and Anandpur's rich heritage. At 11 a.m., a special assembly session dedicated to Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji will be held, marking a first in Sikh history, demonstrating the Punjab government's deep respect.

After the assembly session, a series of cultural and spiritual programs will unfold. These will feature Dhadi War, Kavisar Darbar, plays, poems, and presentations based on Guru Sahib's teachings. These events beautifully blend Punjab's folk traditions with its spiritual heritage. The evening at Charan Ganga Stadium will showcase Gatka, swordplay, weapon displays, and special performances, highlighting the valour and traditions of the Khalsa Panth.

Cultural Celebrations and Drone Show

Following the martial arts displays, a spectacular drone show at Virasat-e-Khalsa will illuminate Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji's life journey and martyrdom through modern technology. The night will then be filled with Katha and Kirtan Darbar, infusing the atmosphere with spiritual peace. The public sentiment is clear: the Punjab government views this three-day event as a festival of devotion, not just an event.
